New orders rise month-on-month

Industrial new orders in the EU rose month-on-month by 1.6% in July, after falling by 0.6% in June, although they remain down by almost 25% year-on-year.

New orders for durable consumer goods increased by 6.9%, intermediate goods by 4.1%, although orders for capital goods fell by 1.8%, according to EU statistics office Eurostat.

The highest increases were registered in Sweden (+10.2%), Poland (+6.1%) and Denmark (+6.0%), and the largest decreases in Ireland (-8.5%), the Czech Republic (-3.8%) and Latvia (-3.6%).
